Trip Update

Eagle Pride Band leads the parade at the 2010 WorldFEST
|
On Tuesday, July 6, 70 members of the Sandra Day O’Connor High School Eagle Pride Band and 10 adult chaperones departed, via motor coach, for the 98th Annual Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Canada. This is the first time in the history of the Stampede that a high school marching band from Arizona has been invited to participate. Of particular honor is the Band is the only United States band selected to participate in the Stampede and band competition. Funding for the trip was secured by the Band’s booster club in cooperation with Phoenix Sister Cities and several local businesses, most notably, Wal-Mart Inc. Through the efforts of Phoenix Sister Cities Commission Member Delia Garcia, Wal-Mart provided transport of the Band’s uniforms, instruments and gear on a climate controlled 18-wheel tractor trailer. In all, Phoenix Sister Cities assisted the Band in generating over $20,000 in cash and in-kind support.
